Information about the company

GlobalFlow GmbH is a consulting company in the area of ​​waste and recyclables management based in Stuttgart, Germany. As a specialist in the field of circular economy, GlobalFlow GmbH advises companies from all sectors in the manufacturing industry and waste logistics. 

My work and results

From 2016 to 2018 I worked for GlobalFlow GmbH, starting with my bachelor’s thesis, continuing on to a student position and master’s thesis, up to being employed as a process manager and assistant to the management. 

During this time I was entrusted with the following tasks: 

– Process management

  • Building and structuring the start-up’s business processes, including creating a process map with the associated sub-processes for the company’s core and support functions
  • Definition of KPIs for the crucial processes 
  • Carrying out internal training on process management
  • Introduction of new programs and IT management

– Participation in customer projects

  • Carrying out potential analyzes
  • Creation of presentations and collaboration on project reports 

– Management assistance

  • Appointment coordination, planning and preparation of internal and external appointments
  • Supporting the management in day-to-day business

In my bachelor’s thesis I dealt with the internal process management of GlobalFlow GmbH and in my master’s thesis with the development of recycling strategies and disposal concepts for organic waste in coffee cherry cultivation and processing. 

What this work meant to me and which key learnings I had
  • Working at GlobalFlow GmbH gave me my first insights into the circular economy and I am very grateful for this experience because it confirmed to me that this is the right career field for me and that I am supporting the circular economy with my work
  • In the company, founded and managed by two women, I found strong role models, which inspired and encouraged me to take the entrepreneurial path myself.
  • GlobalFlow GmbH was founded in 2012 and was still in the start-up phase during my time there, which was also very instructive for me with regard to my later founding of a company.
Relevance for Circular Economy

The work of companies like GlobalFlow GmbH is highly relevant to the circular economy, because optimizing operational waste and recyclables management can be a first step towards the circular economy for many companies and thus open the door to more profound, strategic measures other functions (such as the upstream value chain and product design). The cost savings in waste management represent the “low-hanging fruit” on the tree of circularity.
